Hey guys...well, I'm back and its been a long road...

Austin had his surgeries in February but has been in and out of the hospital since January and he is doing awesome...it was a long and bumpy road but we made it through and now I'm back to shooting and it feels great :)

A few updates and then a few announcements...

The Spring minis are sold out...If you inquired about the session and were given a date and have PAID your session fee then you have a spot, if you had a date but never paid your invoice then your spot was forfeited :(

I will be doing Fall minis in October ONE WEEK ONLY..if you want Holiday portraits this will be your very last chance, after October, that's it no more sessions...I will be only photographing Seniors for 2012...

So if you know you want a session for Christmas Portraits then you need to email me as soon as possible to get on the list for a session.

The sessions will be $99 and I will be offering Digital Collections & Print Collections , no a la carte' or cards. Packages will start at $595 for print collections and Digital files.

Also any client who did not take advantage of the Digital File special in January, those that had sessions in 2010 are still eligible I still have a few session left that were not purchased that have not been purged, if you would like to take advantage give me a shout out before May 1st, the disc is $250 for all the files from your session and you must have met the minimum order from your session to take advantage of the special.

The announcement; I will be deleting my children's website and the Blog soon, even the thought of this make me very anxious..I have put so much love and work in to that site and I still sit and look through all the images of all the families and children I have photographed through the years, I remember each and every session like it was the only session I have ever shot...but its time to let it go as hard as it will be, its time :)

Out of the office..for a little while

I will be away from the office for about a month...

Austin is going in bright and early tomorrow for step 2 of 3 for his brain resection surgery, he will be there for 2-4 weeks...I will have access to email and internet so I will be returning emails but it may take me a little bit to get back to you...

2010 Favorite Image Blog Contest

Every January I go through all my session and pick out my very favorite images, its hard because there are images from every session that I simply adore...ones that make me giggle, ones that make me sigh, ones that bring tears to my eyes and ones that touch my heart...and every year the images are so different, some years I gravitate towards babies some years older kids but for some reason this year most of my favs were images of families and relationships, so as I started to pick my favs it turned into all families and relationships...so without further ado here are my top pics from 2010 that touched my heart.

Wanted to let everyone know we are still not back in the studio, I'm typing this on my handy dandy iPad from memorial Herman children's hospital, we only anticipated on being here till Wednesday but it looks like we may be here through the weekend. The Studio is officially closed for the 2010 season and will be reopening on February 1st 2011.

When we reopen in 2011 we will no longer be photographing children under the age of 8 and will no longer be photographing family sessions with the exception of Spring and Fall mini sessions, dates to be announced in January.

Thank you to all my wonderful clients I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas and a very happy New Year.

**Look for Mini session dates in January on the Blog and in January's newsletter, there will be only 10 spring sessions available in March and 15 Fall sessions in October, if you think you might want a session in 2011 please plan ahead once these are booked no more sessions will be available until 2012. The monthly (well kinda) newsletter went out bright and early this morning, I hope your on my newsletter list, there is some good information in there about sales and upcoming changes to Kim Milburn Photography :) If you didn't get it shoot me a quick email and I will add you to the list and send you out this months newsletter ASAP.

A few things to know...

The studio will be closed on Friday December 10th and reopen on February 1st.

Deadline for orders will be this Wednesday the 8th, otherwise all orders placed after this date will not be shipped out till January. I will be checking email and voicemail periodically throughout that time. I will also be announcing the mini session dates for April, in January, there will be only 15 sessions available...this means if you want a session with your family or with you little ones under 8 you will want to grab one of these dates, this will be the only time I will be offering sessions for families and kiddos under 8 until October when the next minis will take place; I have already had 4 slots booked for October so I anticipate the October dates to be booked before they even are released.

Sessions will take place in 2 days typically a Tue/Wed/Thursday, sessions will last from 20-30 minutes and 5-10 proofs will be shown, the session fee will be $75, print collections and disc collections will be available. If you know you want one of these session times you may email me anytime before January and I will add your name to the list.

This evening couldn't have been more perfect, the weather, the fall colors and these super sweet little boys...we had so much fun I enjoyed every minute of the session...Mom did an AMAZING job with their outfits and the two Mr. T's were AWESOME....most of you know I will always get those silly giggly shots but we all know the shot that makes me melt every time...the serious "quiet smile" and this dude had it down it, literally took like one or two tries and he had "it"....at one point I was working on mini dude and older brother turn his face into his hands and says no the quiet smile is like this okay, did the face and mini dude said ohhhh and DID IT! Mr. T you rock! what a great older brother..really can you get any cuter? Thanks again mom I had so much fun with your boys they are adorable :) Here is your sneak peek :)

As you know this will be my last season for photographing children and families...as of January 2011 I will only be photographing Seniors and Teens. I'm very excited for this new adventure, sad to not watch my past clients and their children grow but looking forward to a new and exciting journey :)

I will be starting the new site for Tweens and Teens, 6th grade and up and I will be looking for Tween/Teen models very soon to get me started..its going to be super fun so keep your eye out if you have a teen-tween ;)

I will still keep up with the Blog but it will have a new look and you can also stay updated on my facebook page.
I also will be offering 2 dates for families and children sessions, they will be mini sessions in the fall of 2011 so be on the look out for those dates for those who want Christmas portraits, they will be limited availability, so email me if you think you might be interested :)

Trick or Treat....pheww Im wiped out

I hope everyone had an awesome trick or treat! I know I did but I am wiped out, we decorated ( a little to much for my hubbies liking ) the yard and passed out tons of candy, to all the little and ~~middle aged~~ big kids in the neighborhood and had some fun scaring the ~~middle aged~~ bigger kids also, it was an awesome day :)

Though this year none of my criminals actually went out trick or treating ( boo hiss no candy for mom and dad) I was a little sad this morning, no candy to steal from the kiddies but I am almost postitive most of your little ones did and so this is where this post is headed...

I read an awesome blog starkravingmadmommy its a great read but she found about an awesome idea for what to do with all that leftover candy that we need to get rid of....give it to the troops :) I love this idea...and there is something else they want Beane Babies...now who doesnt have extra beanie babies lying around?

Well I think fall is here...finally, it has been so crazy hot, my poor families have been baking with all their fall outfits...but it looks like, hopefully, fall is here to stay :)

I'm in the middle of what photographers call our ~~going crazy~~ busy season.. and Ive been crazy busy, November is full so I have opened 3 spots in December but sessions taking place in December, prints, are not guaranteed to be back in time for the holidays. If you would like a session give me a call if you would like one of these last 3 spots, once these are filled the books for 2010 are closed :)

I also will be out of town on November 7th - November 12th for a workshop in New Orleans ( wahoo cant wait). I will not be returning email or voice mails until I return. I will get back to everyone as soon as I return.

Houston Teen Photographer

I love my job, if you can call it that, can it be called a job if you LOVE IT?

I just love this ~~kid~~ ~~teenager~~ young woman, her mom just gets me and my style and just says do your thing...and I LOVE THAT!! ...and she knows one of my things ~~obsessions~~ is hats, most of you know that I am the hat queen, I love hats, I try to photograph every kids in a hat, there is just something magical that happens when you put a hat on a kid...and I adore that...and mom knows how much I love them, so much so, that she brought me 2 hats, just for me..I was so excited...

I was excited for this session because I knew it was going extra special, mom brought along Grandma & Grandpa and Mo's little cousin Carson....we photographed the family together and then I was able to go play with the kids and knowing Morgan I knew this was going to be a piece of cake, she has that "it" factor, the kind of "it" that we will see in a high fashion magazine or walking down the runway, she tall, gorgeous and the camera loves her...and then it was Carson's turn and OMG he has "it" too...how can one family have so much of it?

This family met me at their neighborhood park, I hadn't shot there for sometime and I forgot how much I loved the light there...I really enjoyed photographing this family, its so fun to sit back and watch how families tick to see who's in charge and it was clear that little miss has quite the handle on her two older brothers, well how could you disagree with that adorable face?

where do I start...well first I just adore this family. They were so sweet and so laid back. This is the second shoot I have had with this family, I photographed the youngest for her newborn session and had the pleasure of meeting her older twin sisters then...they were so fun and nothing has changed. A time for change....and change is good

I think I have written this maybe 3 or 4 times and deleted and started over...change is hard but change is ~~scary~~ good. I have been photographing, professionally for a little over, ummm 6 years and I remember my very first session, I was terrified, it was a fiery little red head, Maddie....she showed up with her momma and mom handed me my check for my session fee, it was so surreal, I was actually doing this and again I was terrified, mom also brought along their fur baby....I had props, tons of props and I captured some sweet images and knew I was where I belonged, it was easy, comfortable and so much fun..and that's how it started with a red head...I still am photographing that sweet red head but now she almost grown up and in 6th grade, man how times flies....I have enjoyed every second I have spent with my families but my photography is taking a new direction, Ive seen it coming for awhile now and resisted it, actually fought it but each time I let the thought enter in and sat and thought about it, it felt right, it felt good and it is change, big change....like I said before some may cry, some already know and it will be hard at first but I am very excited and scared out of my mind....but I strapped on my big girl panties and jumped in the deep end....while it may not work, it may fall apart I am excited...

As of January 1st I will no longer be photographing families or little ones full time, I am going to open a studio ( coming in the very near future) dedicated to Tweens, Teens and Seniors, basically 6th grade and up...while I loved photographing families and little ones, I LOVE the creativity of photographing older ~~kids~~ teens. I love being able to direct kids, pose them, do crazy fun stuff and bring out their personalities...I also love what a ~~beautiful~~ super cool image can do for a teen...let me back track a little, as I had been toying with the idea of this and finding a way to make it work,doubting if I should do this, I was watching all the news coverage about Asher, the little boy who committed suicide here in Cypress, it broke my heart and moved me so much and I wanted to do something anything but what can we do, what can I do...photography, its what I do...so it hit me, well really God said here it is, this is it...now go do it, don't you just love the clarity, hehe...I want to be able to give that to every teen, tween and senior...its hard to explain but I remember 6th grade and middle school, it is hard and it seems these years some of the most important years in a teens life and we forget, we forget to photograph them, now I don't mean, birthdays, Halloween, Christmas all those special moments I'm talking about portraits of your teen....you don't know how many times I hear this...its been so long since we have had images of Johny Jo, I think its been since he was in 4th or 5th grade and these are Seniors parents...I very rarely get the opportunity to capture teens, braces and all...why do we stop in those years 6th-11th...so...this is it..this is what I'm doing...my goal, my mission if you can call it one...is to inspire, encourage, show every teen that they are awesome, they do rock, they are cool!!

So when I said when these are gone ( session dates ) well this was why...now I'm not going to abandon my families I love you guys so much..I will be offering family session dates twice a year, mini's... once in the spring and one in the fall, they will be limited so keep an eye out, I will still run the newsletter and I will be letting everyone know well in advance about the mini's so keep your eyes peeled....

I want to thank everyone who has come to me in the past and trusted me to capture their families, I have enjoyed every minute and I would not be on the path I am right now without your support...so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I hope everyone is enjoying FALL...I know I am, this weather is amazing, not only is it my most favorite time of the year, it means all things orange..I love orange ( not Longhorn orange, that's puke orange, big difference) Pumpkins, decorations, pumpkins ( yes I said it twice) baking...OMG I love it...it also means amazing session weather, where you can still dress kinda summery or go all crazy and wear..A SWEATER...

I'm almost completely booked out for the holiday season, I have to say this every year and I never like it...I have only 1 session in October and 2 spots in November, I may open up some spots in November but they will be past the Card deadline..so if you still want a session but dont want cards then give me a call..once these 3 are gone, I will be booking early spring session, in February when its really cold ( yeah well Texas cold)...

I had such a fun session with these Dudes, I photograph a lot of girls and rarely get a set of boys to photograph....mom called me last year during my busiest time and wasn't able to fit her in so when she called to schedule a session this year I was ubber excited...

yeah I'm talking to you...you low life hackers..really, you guys should all be locked up in a room with barney live streaming 24/7 and a bucket of never ending fire ants...forever!

Why the rant, well Ive been hacked, first it was my email, then it was my paypal by some chick named Valerie selling pimple cream to all my fabulous clients....for $1300 dollars a bottle no doubt, man that stuff better make me look like a Top Model and make me sweat gold...just saying...

So if you've received a invoice for said miracle pimple cream I am so sorry, I know its scary but just delete it, Paypal, they FREAKING rock by the way and its why I continue to use them they are always on the ball and have amazing customer service....as for my bank CHASE Bank, yeah the ones with the sparkly blue commercials talking about how your moneys safe with us, well yeah for a fee of $32 bucks per fraudulent transaction, and it will be sent straight to our fraud department where it should be resolved in oh 18 years, yeah that's secure alright...so needless to say I'm switching banks soon...

But it looks like all is well and if you have any questions give me a shout out..and again sorry for the crazy emails.

Well it's here, the BIG day...the first day of school, the day since the first day of summer that most moms are looking forward to, the day the teachers find out who will be the class helper, the class drama queen, the class clown and the repeat offender...

This year the preparations for our first day were slightly, anticlimactic...we didn't have to go wage war in the Walmart school supply isle, I didn't have to wait in a ton of lines in Abercrombie or Hollister my highlight was sitting at the table of shame at the high school, where the other moms who weren't cool enough to walk the halls with the teenagers and waited for.."I'm done, can we go, oh and I'll meet you in the car, I think I forgot something", code for; I'm walking behind you so no one can tell we are related...so basically this years getting ready for school was a bit depressing...at first I was all, I like this, so easy, nothing to this, hand em my debit card, give them a limit and a verbal threat and pick them up 2 hours later, piece of cake...then it hit me the count down, I hate countdowns....I realized I only have 3 more first days of schools...3! Then all my babies will be out of ~~TAKSisd~~ Cy-Fair ISD..and gone, college bound...really 3 more years....so I'm a bit sad so much so I got up at 5:30AM! and fixed the criminals a proper breakfast, no not Nutrigrains Bars, a real IHOP breakfast but without the bad service....and watched as they packed their own lunches, prepared their on backpacks, brushed their own teeth, made sure there phones were charged and silenced, gave hugs and kisses and I tiptoed to hug and kiss each one and me and the dogs watched as they boarded (SHOTGUN!!!) the Honda from Hell known as Kendres car and drove off....I didnt cry...I cleand up there mess from making their own lunches ( cant expect them to clean it up to, nooo) had a bowl of cereal...then I layed down and took a nap :) soooo

Happy first day of school moms, treasure each one, there are only 12 and they are fleeting :)

So in keeping with tradition, the first day of school picture, which I was told was not going to happen..here it is, the best I could get :)

I have to come to realize I keep way to much stuff...now I like a area nice an organized ( thanks mom) and everything in its place ( thanks again)..but I hold onto things way to long IE; files and images...and after opening a cabinet and seeing images from um 2005 yeah I still have em...I decided it was time to let those go..so they went bye bye..and then it started to snowball...I wanted everything ~~thrown~~ cleaned out ~~to make room for more stuff~~ and organized....so with that being said and freeing up a whole cabinet, yes ladies, a WHOLE cabinet empty, Staples here I come! I am giving you guys who like more stuff a chance to buy those cute little images before they go bye bye FOREVER...

Also while I love doing what I do, I do what I do for $$$...shhhh don't tell anyone it ruins the fun, but I do like getting paid for what I do it helps feed the criminals known as my teenagers...so knowing that my studio stays open when clients order their beautiful images....order needs to be placed in a timely fashion, now don't get me wrong I now we are all busy, I'm so busy in fact I have not caught up on all my DVR'd episodes of Jersey Shore, ANTM and Real housewives.....yeah its my PBS..Public B*** S***....so again I'm purging...to make room for more stuff/images

If you have had a session and its been 30 days since your gallery expired and you HAVE not placed an order, your images , those precious portraits of your beautiful children will be deleted on FRIDAY, the ones we took in the 110 degrees known as Texas Indian Summer....yeah those ones...hehe..Fridays the deadline... the Friday before those precious babies board the big yellow taxi to freedom :)

It feels so good to be back, not shootng for 6 weeks did a toll on me and what a great family to start out with...
Beautiful beautiful beautiful.....this family was so awesome...their boys, oh, melt my heart, they were just the sweetest I could have eaten them both up...

when mom and I first talked about what she wanted I could tell this was going to be a very sweet session and I was right, mom and dad were so sweet with their boys and mom she was just GORGEOUS! They all looked perfect, we meet at one of my favorite parks, we were playing keep away from the rain and it was extremely hot, but the boys did amazing .....thanks Kelley and Greg for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family.

NOLA; How I luv the, let me count the ways...

The hubby and I went on a short trip to New Orleans this weekend, it was my first time going so its easy to say I was a bit nervous. I heard the stories...its crazy, its wild, it can be scary.....its HOT! So need less to say I was a bit worried and didnt know what to expect...but as soon as we hit the French Quarter, I was hooked we hadnt even gotten out of the car, had not even checked into our hotel.

We checked into Hotel Montelone, this Hotel was gorgeous and had so much charm.

We unloaded our stuff I grabbed my camera and off we went...it was late in the evening around 6ish so the weather was amazing light breeze and around 85 degrees. We went down Royal and then the smell hit...

We ate and watched, we took a carriage ride and I took in everything and I loved it, loved it all...

We walked, shopped, walked....walked....walked...I can proudly say after all the amazing food I ate and we ate A LOT I have moved my belt knotch over 2 knotches and not out..IN girls IN walking does a body good!

Got lost...Got stranded in the pouring rain under an awning for umm about a million hours, nah just about 30 minutes but it was worth it.

photographed....oh be still my heart...the photographing, there isnt enough time in the day ( granted it rained about 90% of the time we were there) I could spend days there just taking photographs, talking to people, watching the people, the doors, the shutters, the locks..all of it and we didnt even make it to the cemeteries, yeah I thought it was creepy at first too but after ~~getting lost by the cemetery~~ walking by them, they were beautiful; but it was raining and getting dark and umm Im not that brave..but next time I will go and explore them.

I can not wait to go back...it was lovely...I have never meet nicer, sweeter people than I experienced while there and Im from the south everyone is nice ya'll...

Hubby and I are going to be out of town this weekend to celebrate ( a little early) our 20th Anniversary...we are going to soak up New Orleans and I cant wait..Good food, great shopping, music and the best thing, its just us two..its been a long time since we had a weekend alone :) So...I will be away from my email and phone again...I will return all emails and voicemail when I return late Thursday :

Im back in the office full time now, not shooting till August ( doctors orders) but back in the office none the less. I am returning emails, FB messages, placing orders and proofing just as fast as my little hands can work. I missed working, you may laugh but I enjoy working on the computer and Ive missed my little office.

I will be emailing out my newsletter this week...it will include a bit about where the heck Ive been and it will also include some policy changes, pricing changes and some Christmas specials.

I also will be having a pricing increase as of July 1st, if you have a gallery out and have not placed your order (sessions over 30 days) your session will be subject to the pricing increase and policy changes. So please submit your order before July 1st to take advantage of 2009 pricing.

I also will be doing a summer disk cleaning if you had a session in 2009 ( and placed your order) I will be offering a disk sale I will be deleting all files over 6 months old if you would like all your files on a disk, check the newsletter for the special deal, only those that are signed up for the newsletter can take advantage of this special.

I'm back in the office today, kinda...for a little bit at a time, I am hoping to be caught up by mid week next week....I am going through over 895 emails so if I haven't got to yours yet, be patient I'm getting through them as quickly as I can :) If you have placed an order with in this crazy madness of the past 2 weeks I will get your order out as soon as humanly possible and I am in the process of rescheduling everyone whom I had to cancel on. The doctor said 6 weeks before I can shoot again, this is going to be torture but she said because she knows I will be lifting that heavy furniture and doesn't want me to over do it. So I am looking at the last week in July and beginning of August to start shooting, so combined with sessions already scheduled and rescheduling it looks like all of July is full as well as the first 2 weeks of August...THEN SCHOOL STARTS, can I get an AMEN! So it looks like I have to say the word, oh that word that strikes fear and panic in the hearts of Photographers...Holiday sessions :) Not that we don't love it, I do, its just this is our busiest season of the year, our crazy time and last year was one of my busiest on record I had to turn people away and I really don't like doing that...so if you are going to be doing a holiday session call me a soon as you can I will be only photograhing until November 15th unlike last year I photographed until December 15th. I also am going to be holding several days where I do Christmas mini session, be on the look out for those in July's Newsletter ( pssst if you don't get the newsletter, be sure to sign up for it on the Blog)...well I thinks that's all... If anyone has any questions or hasn't heard back from me and has sent me an email please call, it may have fallen in the bottomless pit which is known as spam :) smooches K

Well its been little over a week since I had my SURPRISE! surgery...and I will tell you I AM BORED OUT OF MY MIND! no really I am...some people think oh how I wish I could be told not to do anything for 2 weeks and then not work at all doing what you love for 4 additional weeks...but kids Im going bonkers....Im not a TV watcher never have been and Ive watched more TV in the last 2 weeks than I care to ever watch again :) Im slowly getting back to "normal" as normal as I'm allowed to be....I was a rebel and unloaded the dishwasher and was quickly repremanded by my sweet loving husband then I tried to sneak and bake some cookies, got caught....cant put anything past my hubby, he has been so wonderful and Im sure he will be glad when Im back to 100% so he can rest :)

Ive been slowly returning emails and trying to work on galleries. I dont have a laptop and its hard to sit at my puter for long periods of time but Im doing it doggoneit, cause yep, Im going bonkers...lol

If you have emailed and havent heard back try again my mail box is crazy full and a lot of them are filling into spam, try again and I will get back to you as soon as I can, hopefully sooner.

I am going to start rebooking session I had to cancel starting July 27th, I already have most of July full and am booking into August and the holidays will be here before we know it. I know its only June or is it July, no June...if you are planning on booking a session for Holiday portraits give me a call sooner than later. The deadline this year will be much earlier due to vacation and things already on the books for November and December. I will not be shooting after November 15th this year and last year I had to turn people away so if you are thinking of booking a holiday session call me before August 1st to reserve you spot. Once the spots are full I will not be opening any more sessions and I would hate to miss someone.

a little ouch... a little drugs... a lotta scar

well....where to begin... I have had quite a crazy week, I usually dont post a ton of personal stuff on my blog but girls Im fixin to get real personal, hehe. Last Saturday started out like any other day, Kendre and I were headed to the mall, thank goodness we hadnt left yet but just as we were about to leave I had a little pain, you know that "girlfriend" pain, I was like great here she comes so I stopped to get an advil, gathered my purse, phone and was about to leave when the pain, a pain like "oh lord a babys coming pain" hit....so I thought okay I can do this Im just going to sit awhile catch my breath, that didnt work after about 3 hours Kevin decided it was time to head to the ER, we went and they took some blood and assumed they it was an infection and sent me home with vicaden and some antibiotics and said check with my doc on Monday. That night and the next were the same, tons of pain, throwing up, fevers and a racing heart. Kevin made an OB appointment for first thing Mondaybecause I was ot getting better, we arrived at 8am with my bucket, pillow and me walking hunched over, it was a site, the pain had subsided some and they again assumed bad infection or maybe a ovarian cysts had burst and I was sent home...the rest of the day was wicked and by 3 I couldnt stand it anymore, we called the docto rand they told us to come back in right away we went back to the OB did an Ultrasound and decided it was a ruptured cysts and I would be okay in a few days and to come back if anything changed. That evening the pain got worse, I spiked a fever and had a very high heart rate, called the docotor again Tuesday morning and was told to go to the ER again, so went waited 2 hours in the waiting room, finally I was seen they ordered another ultra sound had and then a CT scan as I was being rolled back into the room, the ER doctor came in and I was told I was being rushed up to surgery right that moment, now let me tell there nothing like someone coming in and saying lets schedule surgery for oh say next month but...right this moment not tomorrow not in 3 hours, NOW their exacts words were, if we dont take you up now you could die....your bleeding into your abdomen and we have to stop the bleeding...now Im usually a very calm go with the flow easy going but today, this moment...well I freaked out not a little, A LOT! So Kevin and I just looked at each other and the madness began finding places for the kids, the paperwork, the hugs the kisses and the goodbyes, please call this person, its amazing when your in the moment the people you think of, the things that go through your mind luckily I had approximately 36 minutes to process it all and then, lights out. I woke up, really I dont know how much longer but I will tell you in that moment the moment I woke up it was the first moment in 4 days I was not in pain, as the nurse said, baby your going to feel like butter and oh the butter...that lasted about 3 hours....no more butter. I stayed in the hospital till Thursday night and now Im home and was told no nothing for 2 weeks ( so dont tell her Im bloggin, big no no) and no work for 6 weeks, 6 weeks are your off your crackers, 6 weeks no way but she said you better be good because otherwise I will see you sooner than later. So I wil listen I will be good. So I am hoping by Wednesday to be okay enough to do some computer work but I am going to reschedule everyone for 6 weeks, I will be good :) I know there are galleries that are due and some are now past due and I will get those up as soon as I possibly can, nobody wants me to process their images on drugs, hehe. So here I am 2 Ovarian ruptured cysts later and can now officially join the I have a huge scar club :)

Thank you to everyone who has called sent cards, emails and flowers....it has lifted my spirits tremendously.

Urban Beach Session

This session will basically be 2 sessions in one...first we meet at the Strand and do a super cool urban session with your family, cool chairs, my fabulous red couch and awesome outfits, then change outfits and do a session on the beach, white dresses for the girls and khaki shorts an white shirts for the boys....you get the best of both, fun urban session and a timeless beach session.

...the grass is starting to turn and daffodils are starting to sprout and with that we look to the Robins to give us the sign that Spring is around the corner...with warmer weather approaching and everything becoming green, spring sessions are coming to mind...my most favorite sessions to shoot every year and I always start to think of them the first day I'm able to open my windows, are Beach Sessions. I love them, they are so different than a typical portrait session, everyone gets to play and its okay to get dirty. I love the white dresses and the little khaki pants that the boys wear, finding sea shells and feeding the gulls, "i love them!"

I am going to start shooting Beach sessions this year in March, typically I didn't start until May, but this year Ive had quite a few requests for them earlier in the year, especially for clients who couldn't make it in time for Holiday sessions...so starting on March I will be booking Beach sessions at Freeport Beach, my favorite beach, for the seclusion and beautiful driftwood that is always near by...

...to kick off the Beach Season, I am offer a special deal...The first 10 clients to *book a 2010 Beach Session will receive a complimentary DVD slideshow. The Video below is a sample of a Beach session I recently did with a lovely family. It comes with a gorgeous custom cover, custom DVD and protected in a keepsake box.

I'm the optimist, I say spring is right around the corner, it is, I'm ready to open my windows and wear flip flops again, even though I'm loving my new vintage converse, they are so comfy, I may not switch to flops in the spring..NOT!

I cant believe February is already here, it seems like last week was Thanksgiving and we were putting up decorations...it seems time is moving so quickly, I think its because I see my kids growing faster that Houston grass....they are becoming adults right before my eyes and I don't like it, not one bit. I am feeling the urgency to photograph them more and more, much to there great disgust, my kids hate nothing more when I exclaim, we are taking pictures but I feel like I'm running out of time and their childhood is slipping away...in between the SATS, college visits, driving kids to the movies, first dates and first boyfriends, girls calling my boys, somewhere they grew up and somehow Ive gone from being mommie I need help, to hey mom can you take me...or hey mom I need some money. When did I become mom and not mommie?

So don't wait for the big events to take snap shots of your kids, don't wait for the birthdays, the baseball game, the dance recital....take time to photograph the little things....making cookies, playing in the dirt, tieing there shoes, playing with their toys...even when there hair is messy and their clothes don't match, those are the little things, the tiny moments, the moments that will pass you by...document it because one day you will turn around and you will be Mom and you will wonder how did I get here, when did they grown up, where did the toys go and you will miss the Cheetos kisses and dirty hand prints on the wall...capture the little moments...

A book and its cover...

Can this get any cuter....she was so much fun and she was so good, even without her nap....the weather couldn't have been more beautiful and her amazing big brother was such a big help...I had a wonderful time photographing her, it made my day :)

2009 Blog Contest

Its that time of the year where I post some of my most favorite images of the year. This year it is was so hard to narrow it down to my most favorite images but with out further ado here they are in no apparent order.

This years winner will receive 10 digital files from their session, of their choice, that is over a $1300 dollar prize and the winner will also receive a Gift Session to gift to a friend, family member or someone they know in need who would love to have their family photographed.

Contest rules; one vote per person and per household, IP address ect...no voting 100 times granny :) All multiple votes will be deleted. So finalist get to voting the contest will run for 1 week only and the contest will end at Midnight on Monday January 18th. Tell your friends, family members, post it on facebook, the most votes wins!

I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday...we went home to Oklahoma for the Christmas Holidays and had a great time with the family and we were lucky enough to have a real white Christmas, it snowed almost 7 inches, it was beautiful, it had been such a long time since I had seen that much snow and the kids had never experienced anything like it, sadly as they have become more acclimated to living in Texas, they have become wimps when it comes to playing outside in 20 degree weather, so the fun lasted, oh about 12 minutes...never the less it was a beautiful site...

I will be posting my annual Blog Contest this week so be on the look out for it to be posted, the prize this year will be awesome...it has been very hard to choose the entries, my first go through I had 19 favorites, a little to many, so I had to narrow it down a bit more, it was hard to do. The contest will be pretty much the same as years past, most votes wins ( one per person/IP address). So be on the look out for that..

Also I will be making some changes to the website soon, adding some items, taking away some others and adding digital collections to my product list this year.

Sessions will resume January 30th I am booking Spring and Summer session and also Beach sessions. If you would like to book a session give me a call or send me an email.

I look forward to working with each and everyone of you in 2010 :)

Studio Closed: December 15th- January 30th

The studio is officially closed for the holidays. All orders have be shipped and clients who have not placed their orders will have to do so after January 30th. All emails and voicemails (facebook messages) will be returned after the Holidays. In case of an emergency please give me a call and I will return your call as soon as I can.

2009.....a year to remember

...as 2009 is coming to a close, it is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. This has been a wonderful year for me, it has had its challenges, business and personal and its joy, again business and personal. I opened a little space and closed a space and in that in-between time I figured out what "kind" of photographer I wanted to be, it took me a whole year to do it but it was worth it. In my personal life I have grown as a photographer and as a person, with a little help from perseverance, friendships, family, challenges and laughter, without these I would not have landed exactly where I am at, at this moment, in the joy. All of it is so worth it to get to the joy, there have been days when as a photographer its hard to find the joy, the laughter, the emotion but in that I have found that the emotion is why I do and why I love what I do....the emotion is my photography. The emotion I feel is the true heart of my photography, whether it is a giggle, a hug from a father to his son, a soulful look from an ever-non stationary 2yr old, the peaceful position of a sleeping 4 day old, or the quiet smile of wife looking into her husbands eyes as her 4 children run a muck in the chaos. This is why I do what I do, the emotion, this is what I love to capture, this is what keeps me in love with my photography, a moment I capture for my clients and a moment that sometimes, in that chaos, can not be seen or felt but in that one minuet moment of the shutter I capture it, capture it forever on film...those captures, are the moments when you see that portrait for the first time will steal your breath...those are the moments I love, the moments that bring me joy, the moments that tell me I am a photographer...so thank you all my wonderful clients for bringing me joy, laughter and tears because without you, I could not do what I love, capturing emotion, capturing love, capturing you....thank you.

I have put together a quick little slide show of some of "my" favorite images from this past year, some were chosen for emotion, some were chosen for the effort it took to create them and some were chosen because they touched my heart...thank you again and enjoy, I look forward to another beautiful year with each and everyone of you. ~Kim~

Holiday Update:

Okay folks the time is drawing to a close....The Studio will be closing for the Holidays on December 10th and will not reopen until after January 30th. Emails and voicemails will be returned after the holiday. Any order placed after today will not be submitted until after the studio reopens.

I had a very special newborn session recently.....he was such a good little boy, so sweet and oh my goodness he was such a talker, he just chatted it up the whole session and his hair, oh his hair he had the very best hair on a new baby I have ever seen, so cool....and secondly this session was very special as he will be my very last newborn session, I will no longer be photographing newborns in 2010 it was a very hard decision because I do love photographing these teeny little miracles...thank you L family for choosing me to capture your little guy he was such a sweety...

I photograph a lot of siblings and I love photographing sibling...but I will tell you these 2 adorable older siblings LOVE that baby sister...they ooh'd and ahhh'd over her and treated her like a princess and the two were also so sweet and kind to each other...while we focused on baby for a bit I watched them and they just casually sat or played together chatting and all together just being..it was lovely to watch..and so polite..Ive never had kids really go out of their way to thank me for torturing them for 2 hours but the sweet thank you's I got from them made my day...here is your sneak peek enjoy

2008 Digital File Sale

If you would like to purchase your entire session on CD and be able to print them at home, use them for scrapbooking or whatever you could dream up, give me a shout out. I will only offering this for a limited time. The complete session is only $250, plus tax and shipping, on a CD, *includes all your images from your session. Email me or call me if you would like to place a CD order.

**This special is for a limited time and only applies to those who had a session in 2008, 2009 sessions are not eligible. CD does not include prints or raw images, jpegs only.

After the sale has ended, all 2008 sessions will be deleted and purged and not available for reorders.

Updates on dates

The Office will be closed on November 21st-November 29th for the holidays, I will be enjoying some much needed family time with my little Turkeys...

Ordering updates. In order to get your images back in time for Christmas all orders must be in no later that December 5th, all orders placed after December 5th will NOT be in in time for the holidays. Books, canvas and speciality item will not arrive on time if they are not ordered this week. Thanks and plan your orders accordingly.

Ive photographed the little girls 4 times and each and every time we have so much fun...mom meet me for a quick session this evening and the weather was fabulous and man Ive never answered so many questions these girls were full of them....I always love getting to play with them again...thanks mom for choosing me again to capture them, I always have a ton of fun..hope you little squirrels liked the skittles...

I had a sweet family session yesterday and boy did Mom do a super job dressing everyone, they looked so cute...and the colors were perfect for the location we chose...during the session big brother had me crackin up, he had the BEST imagination and was telling me some pretty incredible stories, really good stories...and at one point we were walking by a particularly fragrant part of the park and he said "do you smell that," I said "yes what is that smell," without skipping a beat he said "Basil !!" ...I cracked up, this was from a 3yr old...lol...he was too cute...I had a great time playing with him and his adorable baby brother...thanks again Ashley for choosing me to photograph your adorable family...

Holiday Sessions

Its that time of year and before we know it Christmas will be here...I wanted to let everyone know what I have left available for Holiday sessions.

November 4th 4:30

I have opened up a few dates in December

December 1st

December 3rd

December 8-10th.

These are all the available spots I have this year. Once these are filled there, I wont have anymore sessions open.

I will also be offering a digital file this year for those of you who want to do you own cards. This can be from your session now or from a previous session in 2009. If you are interested email me for all the details.
